Alt metal trio Vent Silence has stunned and amazed audiences in Washington DC and Baltimore for the last two years with a unique sound that is both thoughtful and thunderous, beautiful and vicious. Philosopher-poet guitarist Kristian Perry and classically trained singer/bassist David Stamm have been writing songs since their school days. Wary of heavy metal cliches and mock-sentimental balladry, they searched for a way to blend melodic beauty and dense harmony with the raw power of their musical heroes. The search came to an end when they joined forces with drummer Atif Khan in early 2004. An accomplished visual artist with a command of rhythmic styles from jazz to hardcore, Atif shared their dream of creating beautiful yet savage music. Combining Kristian's poetic vision and six-string assaults, David's mastery of theory and passion for melody, and Atif's fearless avant garde creativity, Vent Silence is now making the music they'd always hoped to make -- and people are starting to notice. The trio has captivated audiences in such DC-area venues as the Velvet Lounge, DC Nine, The Royal Baltimore, and the mainstage of the DC Capital Pride Festival, and they are ready to surge to the next level. Their music is alternately furious, hypnotic, and lyrical. This is music that you do not forget, and do not shrug off.
